About Us
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of age.
Matthew 28:19-20
UCO is a community of college students who have accepted Christ's commission to spread the Gospel on our campuses. We are an ecumenical group, which means that we have members from Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox Christian traditions.
The primary goals of UCO are summed up in terms of four "charisms" that mark the life and spirit of UCO:
- Discipleship: to encourage and foster one's personal relationship with Christ and a life marked by Christian character and daily practice of the gospel. (John 8:31-32)
- Renewal in the Holy Spirit: to encourage people to experience the full power and gifts of the Spirit in their lives, both for personal growth and for mission. (Acts 1:8)
- Community Life: to display the common life that we are called to in Christ, through friendship and growth in commitment to one another. (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
- Ecumenism: to participate with Christians from a wide variety of churches in the work of Christian unity, and to give a witness of what the Spirit of God can accomplish among us despite ongoing divisions. (John 17:20-23)
UCO Vancouver is not an official club, but we meet primarily on the University of British Columbia campus. However, we do welcome students from many surrounding institutions such as Corpus Christi College, Langara College, Vancouver Community College, and Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
